5 big moves on this week’s Hot 100

For the second week in a row, Taylor Swift is claiming double-digit spots in the Hot 100, proving that at least some of the songs featured on her recent album Folklore weren’t just instant smashes meant to go away immediately. While she still controls a good chunk of the leaderboard, a number of new cups make their debut on the roster as a musician reclaims her debut record.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s 100 Singles chart.

# 1 – Harry Styles – “Watermelon Sugar”

Harry Styles marks his first No.1 hit with his third solo top 10 (and his ninth overall including the music he released as a member of One Direction). “Watermelon Sugar”, a catchy pop-rock tune featured on his second album Fine line, moved from No. 7 to the top position, replacing Swift’s “Cardigan” at the top spot in this week’s Hot 100.

N ° 8 – Taylor Swift – “Cardigan”

Speaking of Swift, the singer’s “Cardigan,” who debuted at No. 1 last week, drops to No. 8 this time around. It’s a noticeable drop, but thanks to several chart tops dropping more in a single drop, it’s not one of the biggest in history.

“Cardigan” is one of Swift’s 11 songs taking up space on the Hot 100 this week, which is down from the 16 it occupied in the last frame.

# 19 – A $ AP Ferg – “Move Ya Hips (ft. Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO)”

The trio of A $ AP Ferg, MadeinTYO and Nicki Minaj proved particularly powerful, as the three musicians release their new single “Move Ya Hips” at No.19, marking the second highest-ranked start to the week. (behind “My Future” by Billie Eilish, which starts at # 6). The song will likely feature in Ferg’s next project, and it gives Minaj his 113th place on the Hot 100, which ties the rapper to the fourth greatest appearance of all time.

N ° 25 – Pop Smoke – “Mood Swings (ft. Lil Tjay)”

Up to a new high of No. 25 is “Mood Swings” by Pop Smoke and Lil Tjay, which became a standout track from the first posthumous No. 1 album. Aim for the stars, aim for the moon. The song jumps into the top 40 for the first time, dropping from No.44 to No.25 in a giant leap. In doing so, he becomes the eighth top 40 smash of the set, which encompasses all of Smoke’s greatest hits. Tjay collects his second appearance in the region with the victory.

# 43 – Dan + Shay – “I should probably go to bed”

Months after starting releasing songs that will feature on their upcoming fourth album starring Justin Bieber with “10,000 Hours”, Dan + Shay are returning with another new track, “I Should Probably Go to Bed”. The song barely fails to become the duo’s fifth top 40 with a few spots, but it could soon climb into the important region.
