The last Thor: Love and Thunder posters come to us from artist Matt Ferguson, and they are absolutely electrifying! We also have a new featurette exploring Taika Waititi’s impact on the Thor franchise.
It’s like we’re just watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on the big screen, but Thor: Love and Thunder is already almost there.
Reviews of the movie have found their way online, and while they’re not as stellar as the ones we’ve seen for Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, it looks like it will be a staple in theaters this weekend. Now, acclaimed artist Matt Ferguson has shared a first look at his jaw-dropping poster for the blockbuster, and we’d say it’s the best yet.
Focusing on the God of Thunder and The Mighty Thor, characters like Korg and Valkyrie are also featured, strongly hinting at their importance to this film. A second poster has also been revealed, and while a bit simpler, it’s just as eye-catching.
In a recent interview with fandangoChris Hemsworth was asked where Thor: Love and Thunder fits into the larger MCU. “End of Game [ended] with Thor giving Valkyrie kingship on Earth, and Thor was in a pretty complex place emotionally at the time,” says the actor. “He was a bit out of shape, which accounted for his emotional complexity.”
“He’s gone on a journey of self-discovery with Guardians of the Galaxy, and that’s kind of where we’re picking up.” So, as suspected, it’s a little while after Avengers: Endgamebut before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Whether the hunt for Gamora will be referenced in any way remains to be seen, as we find it hard to imagine Star-Lord not wanting to find her.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on an unprecedented journey – a quest for inner peace. But his retreat is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty. Thor.
Together they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn, among others.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
