As the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins to wrap up its Phase Four onslaught of movies and TV series, audiences are eagerly awaiting what awaits their favorite characters. Disney+ will soon be unveiled She-Hulk: Lawyer, with Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo. Theater fans will finally be able to attend the sequel to Black Panther entitled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the character’s first appearance following the untimely death of actor Chadwick Boseman. But the piece de resistance of phase four could well be Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which debuts during the holiday season later this year. Now, it looks like audiences are getting their first glimpse of the special via social media.

In images recently posted to Twitter, LEGO will be selling an advent calendar just in time for the holidays to celebrate the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+. According to a report from CBR, some major plot points of the special can be confirmed by the footage as many characters are included in the set, including Vin Diesel’s Groot decorated as a Christmas tree. The Collector’s Benicio del Toro character appears to be returning to the franchise for his first appearance since Avengers: Infinity War. Also included in the LEGO Advent Calendar appear to be Rocket the Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) with a key and Chris Pratt’s character Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, on a sled.

Drax, Gamora and Nebula are not featured in the images from the Twitter post. However, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan have all been confirmed to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialaccording to set footage while filming the special on Marvel.com. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will mark the conclusion of the MCU’s Phase Four at the end of 2022, leading to a slew of movies and series marking the start of Phase Five, which begins almost immediately in 2023. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly kicks off in February, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in May 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 appears to be the last in the series of films featuring much of the Guardians cast.

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will begin to wrap up the character arcs that director James Gunn established in the 2014 film that launched the franchise. The special will lead directly to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is the last film that Gunn will participate in with the MCU (at least with the Guardians). Actor Will Poulter is confirmed to join the cast of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and can show his face in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Poulter was recently nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his work in the Hulu miniseries Dope.
