Coast Capital closes Fort Langley branch – Aldergrove Star

Coast Capital is closing its Fort Langley branch.

In a letter to members dated October 29, Lisa Colangelo, senior vice president, retail and advisory center at Coast Capital Federal Credit Union, said the branch at 9140 Glover Road would close on its last day. operating being Friday, July 15, 2022.

Colangelo cited a “change in member behavior” as the reason for the decision to move accounts and services from the Fort Langley branch to the Coast Capital Walnut Grove site at 20991 88th Avenue, described as being “a five minute drive away. From Fort Langley place.

“The banking preferences of our members in the Fort Langley community have changed over the years before COVID-19, and we have seen a significant decline in in-branch transactions as members increasingly perform their daily banking transactions in online, by phone or through an ATM, ”explained Colangelo.

A virtual public meeting for members is scheduled for Wednesday January 26.

While Fort Langley will be open by appointment until July, counter services “which were interrupted earlier in the pandemic will not resume,” the letter said.

He recommends customers who have used the Fort Langley branch for day-to-day transactions to try Coast’s online mobile and telephone banking services.

“Closing a branch is always a difficult decision, especially one with a long history like Fort Langley,” said Colangelo.

“As our organization remains financially healthy and stable, members’ banking habits have evolved.

Since Walnut Grove has “a reduced vault capacity,” some Fort Langley vaults may be moved “to another section of the Fort Langley vault” before being moved, the latter advised.

Coast currently operates over 50 locations across Canada.
