Gorillaz has teamed up with Bad Bunny on an upcoming song.
Damon Albarn has revealed that he and the 27-year-old Puerto Rican rapper have recorded a reggaeton track together in Jamaica, which will be the first single from an upcoming project by his virtual group with comic artist Jamie Hewlett.
The Blur frontman told The Wrap: “What I love about Gorillaz is that I can bring [in] someone I want you know
“I was in Jamaica recently and recorded a Gorillaz song with Bad Bunny, it’s something exciting for next year.”
He continued, âBad Bunny is the first single. It’s the first song I made from this new project.
“I still don’t know when it’s coming out, or how we’re going to launch it, but we’ve finished it and it’s⦠yes, more or less a reggaeton song. Bad Bunny meets Gorillaz.
Gorillaz’s last studio album was 2020’s âSong Machine, Season One: Strange Timez,â which starred Sir Elton John, St. Vincent and Beck.
And Damon has already teased some sort of collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney.
The 53-year-old musician revealed last year that he has recorded music with the legendary Beatles star and hopes to use it on an upcoming Gorillaz album.
He said: “I have a recording of Paul and myself that I could use for a Gorillaz track. It could easily fit on a Gorillaz album. It’s a very simple and basic recording, but I don’t. would never go out without telling him about it first. “
Damon went on to insist that the recording was not a complete track, but praised Paul, 79, as “one of the most special pop musicians.”
He said: “[I don’t want to say I have] a lead with Paul, because I don’t, but I could definitely work with him. He’s one of the most special pop musicians of all time. “
Meanwhile, Gorillaz is also considering a track with another musical icon, after Jamie recently teased Damon for writing a song for Dolly Parton.
He said: âI suggested working with Dolly Parton imagining Damon would throw him in my face and he turned around and said, ‘Are you serious? I love Dolly Parton “. So we have to find a way to get in touch with Dolly. Damon already wrote the track, I think! We had this conversation three weeks ago when he was in Paris, and I him. spoke the other day and he said, ‘I wrote that one.’ “
