Jordyn Peters gets NFL opportunity in time for training camp

Former Auburn safety Jordyn Peters signed with the New York Giants just in time for training camp.

The NFL team announced Peters’ signing on Wednesday, which was report day from training camp for the Giants rookies.

After four seasons in Auburn high school, Peters signed with the New York Jets in May after being unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Jets released Peters on July 2 to create a spot for free agent Morgan Moses, the Washington football team’s starting offensive tackle for the previous six seasons.

A prep star at Muscle Shoals High School, Peters was signed by the Giants after a tryout on Tuesday.

Peters joins a well-supplied post with New York. The Giants return 2020 starters Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers, 2020 second-round pick Xavier McKinney and versatile Julian Love to safety.

The Giants’ preseason schedule includes the Jets on August 14, the Cleveland Browns on August 22, and the New England Patriots on August 29.
