Now developer 1047 Games has announced that due to a breakthrough attempting to increase server capacity, wait times are now reduced to 5 minutes on average and 30 minutes at most, although things can look slightly different over the weekend when even more players join the game.

Another update includes fixes and stability features, such as kicking players who have been idle for too long in the menu, reducing wait times even further, and even getting to reduce the wait to nothing for a short period of time.
On the new Shared Door State Twitter, the team says it will continue to work on the servers to eliminate the queues. Just in time too, as Splitgate hit another record with 67,165 PC-only players, according to Steam Database. 1047 continues to be very transparent and attentive, not only on Twitter but also on TIC Tac, where developers post answers to frequently asked questions such as anti-cheat measures and skill-based matchmaking.
Splitgate does not yet have a firm release date, but it is expected to drop later this month.
