Viz Media Announces New Star Wars Tribute Art Book Featuring 45 Manga Artists


Viz Media announced a new Star wars A tribute art book is on the way bringing together the art of 45 manga creators and illustrators! While the Star Wars franchise has starred in the anime and manga world in the past (especially through some of the official releases that Viz Media has previously licensed), fans may have noticed how the franchise is starting to grow. break into this world even further ahead the creators of the anime and manga industries have brought their own twist to the famous franchise as with the upcoming Star Wars: Visions upcoming anthology series on Disney +.

Now Viz Media is taking that in a cool new direction with the upcoming Star Wars: Tribute to Star Wars, a new special art book bringing together the works of 45 different illustrators. While the illustrators included are still a mystery, the initial announcement from Viz Media confirmed that works by Akira Himekawa, Taiyo Matsumoto, and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko will be part of this new collection. These three artists are already a big deal. Viz Media has not only worked with creative duo Akira Himekawa in the past with licenses from THE Legend of Zelda series, but fans may have seen their work as part of the manga’s special anthology, Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker. Taiyo Matsumoto is the creator of series such as Ping Pong (which got an anime directed by Masaaki Yuasa), Tekkonkinkreet, and more. As for Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the animator and artist has contributed to a ton of franchises over the years, including the original. Mobile Suit Gundam.

Star Wars: Tribute to Star Wars is currently slated to hit shelves in the spring of 2022, and it’s just one of many remixes of the franchise that anime and manga fans will be able to check out over the next year or so.
